Our studies are based on trusted market intelligence sources such as Yardi Matrix, the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and other public - government and third-party - databases.
Our Data and Methodology
The data on average rents included in our reports and articles comes directly from competitively-rented (market-rate) large-scale multifamily properties (50+ units in size), in over 130 markets across the U.S., via telephone survey. The data is compiled and reported by our sister company Yardi Matrix, a business development and asset management tool for brokers, sponsors, banks and equity sources underwriting investments in the multifamily, office, industrial and self-storage sectors. Fully-affordable properties are not included in the survey and are not reported in rental rate averages. All other data used in our stories comes from public government or trusted third-party databases and is the most current available at the time of publication.
